DEAD ORCHARD

ALSO KNOWN AS
DETAILS
The "Dead Orchard" is a specific type of triangle choke, popularized by Nathan Orchard, a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt. It's characterized by trapping both of the opponent's arms inside the triangle, making it a very tight and effective submission. The Dead Orchard is often achieved from rubber guard positions, like the double bagger, and can be used to set up armbars as well, according to BJJ Fanatics.

KEY ASPECTS OF THE DEAD ORCHARD
Triangle Choke Variation:
It's a triangle choke where both of the opponent's arms are trapped inside the triangle, limiting their escape options.

Rubber Guard Origin:
It's frequently used as a transition from rubber guard, a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu guard system.

EFFECTIVENESS
The tight configuration of the legs and trapped arms makes it a very strong submission, and it can also be a setup for armbars
